The Mainframe wedding is held on a sizeable island of middling altitude in Floating Point Park. The setup is traditionally formal but not excessive. Locals who aren't on the guest list but are eager to ooh and ahh at a celebrity wedding look on from islands higher up. (Mike the TV is present but has been ordered to behave himself on pain of immediate ejection from the premises sans zipboard.)

After the ceremony, there is the standard luncheon and dancing. (Beef entrée: file mignon. Seafood entrée: C: drive plank salmon. Vegan entrée: rastertouille.)

Goodness knows how wedding registry works in Milliways.

Enzo's nieces do their part with enthusiasm. Flower sprite Mairi flies overhead like an oversized putto, raining blossoms on the aisle and in some cases the guests, while codebearer Ana marches down the aisle like a military escort, ready to defend the link commands from all comers.

Beauford cheerfully approaches the table to drop off his gifts for both bride and groom. Really, it was interesting to see how the digitizer would translate him, and not being a volleyball with legs was an welcome surprise. With silver-pearl skin and an army cut of hair that looked more like part of a golden helmet, he pretty much fit in with the regular sprites.

Opening up the folder from his icon, two boxes of compressed files are selected, held and 'drag and dropped' onto the table with a thunk. Really, what's the best gift that a time-travelling, dimension-hopping hero can give his best bud?

Information. Each of those boxes holds enough data to fill a small Earth library, uncompressed and stacked. Enzo's is full of cross-universe timelines and checkpoints that would be very likely to occur in the future for him. And any descendants he might have as well. Dani's is full of how-to manuals for just about anything and everything, from repairs to recipes, best ways to take down something without powers and unarmed... Also a pair of opal earrings. Because, well.... Ray had a few laying around.

Gifts delivered! Now where was that drinks table...

The sprite of honour, despite her customary brass, is openly emotional today and is in fact having to make an effort not to ruin her bit mask-ara.

The best sprite isn't faring much better. This is technically the second time he's been the best sprite at Enzo Matrix's wedding, and you can practically hear "Sunrise, Sunset" playing. They compile up so fast...

The chairs have been set up to produce a Y-shaped aisle. From one side proceeds the groom, all happy, happy nerves, escorted by a null-bot father and a beaming older sister.

"The link commands, please?"

The best sprite and sprite of honour hand them over.

Enzo holds the little gold torus up to his icon. The space inside the ring fills up with static as he transfers a packet of his own code into it.

"With this code, I thee wed."

He leans over and presses the command against Dani's icon, and the whole thing dissolves into it.

It would seem that Bonzo cleaned up quite nicely in his Fleet formal uniform...even if he might look slightly awkward in it: There simply weren't many occasions that it was necessary.

"Congratulations, Enzo. Congratulations, Dani."

He extends a handshake as his turn in line comes.

Bob's speech is very nice and honestly makes Enzo tear up a little.

Mouse's speech, on the other hand, makes him try to turtle into his collar to hide his blushing.

And from the other side proceeds the happy bride, escorted by her equally beaming parents.

Dani's hands may or may not be shaking as she copies his actions with her own link command.

"With this code, I thee wed."

As they meet where the aisles merge, the escorts release their charges and fall back slightly, allowing the couple to walk the final stretch together.

Enzo takes a deep breath, and his hand reaches out for Dani’s.
