"Dot?" Enzo calls (at a reasonable indoor volume, thank you), emerging from the hall closet. "Where's the icon you got for Annabelle? She's ready to visit."

"Hello Miss Newfield," Dot waves, smiling from the main bedroom, walking with a sleeping Mairi over her shoulder. The scorch marks are right above Mairi's little bed, coming as no surprise. "There's some currency in the file on the table for you to use, as well as some other information I thought you might find interesting."

"Oh, thank you. I didn't mean to put you to so much trouble...."

"It's nothing really..." Pause. "ENZO! Put that pot of Java BACK onto the stove."

Enzo grins the grin of someone who didn't actually expect to get away with it, and replaces the pot.

Annabelle smiles, "It's still a very thoughtful gesture." Annabelle peers at her icon curiously, "I'm afraid that I'm not certain how to attach this...."

Annabelle does not laugh at Enzo's expression, but it's a bit of a struggle.

"Just press it by the edges onto whereever you want to have it stay." Dot replies, picking up the file with a free hand and giving it to Annabelle, while giving Enzo a 'thpbbt!' of sisterly consternation.

And once Annabelle opens it, she'll find 512 credits to her name, a map of the city, marked with the locations of several hotels in Kits sector. ..along with a notice from the police task force of Mainframe. Just a small bounty notice regarding active neo-viral trouble makers.

256 units for each troublemaker brought in.

Annabelle presses the icon into place and looks through the contents of the file. She grins when she gets to the notice from the police task force, "Well now, that's interesting. I don't think I've ever done bounty hunting in any sort of official capacity." (People giving you stuff as gifts after you stop the bad guys doesn't really count.)

"Not really...official....but there's a certain charter out for some friends." Gavin's crew got first dibs on the bounty offer. "This went out to any able-bodied citizens who were of age. I thought you might like to have a notice as well, since you're in town."

And with very few direct connections to the Lady Matrix.

"Mrmmbblbmrr.."

"Oop...somebody needs to be changed and put into the cradle...excuse me you two."

That is convenient, certainly.

"Duty calls," Annabelle says with a smile.

"Where should we head first?" she asks Enzo.

"First, you oughta get a zipboard," Enzo says decisively, leading her out into the pristine, expensive whiteness of Beverly Hills. "They're cheap if you just get one from a vending machine. And then we'll find you that tour group."

"Impressive," Annabelle remarks when Beverly Hills comes into view. "Is there a particular kind of vending machine I should be looking for?"

[a1enzo]

"I'll give you a lift to one," he says. "Beverly isn't too good for walking," he indicates the tiered structure, "but they don't like to have vending machines in this part 'cause they're 'unsightly'."

He brings out his boogie baud and maximizes it.

"To tell you the truth, I kinda liked it better when we lived in Baudway. I mean, the house is way nicer than the Diner basement, but there was stuff to do right outside."

"Ah, that kind of neighborhood, is it?" Annabelle asks knowingly.

She nods in understanding and moves toward the boogie baud. "It seems like the commute would be a bit of a pain, even if you don't have to walk."

"Well, it's not too bad. We're right near the hub, and my baud's pretty fast."

He grins and hops on.

"How do you pilot one of these things?" Annabelle asks as she hops on behind him.

[a1enzo]

"You just shift your weight. Try to keep still for now, 'kay?"

He presses down with a foot, and they start to glide forward.

"I can do that," Annabelle says with a laugh. "Jake would have had a grand time with one of these."

[a1enzo]

"Jake?"

"One of my teammates," Annabelle replies as they start to move forward. "Where my talents lie with weapons, his were with anything that flew." Pause. "and somehow not dying even when he probably should have."

"Gotcha. Bet my roommate Balun would like him. Okay, try leaning back."

[aeons_crackshot]

"Probably so," Annabelle replies. "Jake got along with most people."

She leans back when Enzo tells her to.

The baud tips with her, and up they go!

Wheee! Annabelle cackles with glee as they start to ascend.

"That's it," Enzo tells her. "Push with your feet to accelerate or slow down, lean for altitude or to turn. See if you can take us down there," he tells her, pointing.

Anyone watching should assume Enzo is piloting his craft. No one needs to know she's new to this mode of transportation.

Thankfully, Annabelle's sense of balance and dexterity are good enough that no one will be in a position to wonder why Enzo's piloting skills have suddenly gone downhill.

Annabelle leans carefully at first, but she picks up the maneuvering very quickly.
