Enzo woke up very early this cycle. This is kind of a problem, as the PARTY! isn't until late morning and the specifics are meant to be a surprise, so he's had to hang around the house while Dot is out making sure everything's set up.

Thus, he's twitching with suppressed energy, but he's still ridiculously happy, 'cause he finally gets to have a real birthday party!

"Whatcha looking for, Enzo?" says Bob with a too-cheerful smile.

"Your present. I didn't see it," he says, still shuffling stuff aside.

"Oh, it's on its way," says Bob. "I asked someone to deliver it. He should be here right about... nnnnow."

Nothing happens.

"Uh... now."

Nothing continues to happen.

"Oh, come on..."

A portal finally appears next to Bob, and out of it steps the Prime Guardian himself.

"Sorry 'bout that, Bob," Turbo says. "Got caught up in a meetin'. I've had more of the dang things in the past few cycles than I've had in the past minute..."

"Turbo?! You're bringing my present?" OMU Prime Guardian at my birthday party! Enzo has, it is fairly safe to say, now beaten Matrix out for Most Awesomely Unexpected Party Guest. "Is it from the Supercomputer?"

"You could say that," says Bob, grinning broadly. "Turbo, will you do the honors?"

Turbo smiles a bit, and then clears his throat and looks down at Enzo with his Serious Business face.

"Son, to reward everything you have accomplished to help protect Mainframe, and even the entire 'Net itself, the Council has unanimously agreed to upgrade you to a full Guardian Cadet and provide you with a full scholarship to the Guardian Academy."

He pauses, to let the seriousness of the offer to sink in for a moment.

"Do you accept these privileges and the responsibilities that go with them?"

Oh... wow...

After gaping for a moment, Enzo realizes he's supposed to say something.

"Guk." That's odd, his throat doesn't seem to be working. He nods instead, jaw still hanging open.

"Take your time, son," He says with a grin. "It's a big decision, after all."

But it's one he made a long time ago.

He reins in his jaw, swallows a few times, straightens his shoulders. "I accept, sir!" he declares, loud and clear.

That gets an approving smile.

"Very good," he says, and then holds out his hand. "Now, hand me your Icon, and I'll give you your complete upgrade to Cadet."

Enzo's icon is off his hat and in Turbo's hand fast enough to lend added credence to wormhole theory.

He chuckles a bit. The kid was enthusiastic. Definitely a good thing.

Turbo pulls off his own icon and holds it over Enzo's.

"With the powers invested in me by the Council of Guardians as Prime Guardian, I hereby authorize the upgrade of Enzo Matrix to Cadet Guardian status, along with all rights and responsibilities associated therein.

"Command line: icon. Download Guardian protocol to version 1.0."

A small beam of light passes between the two icons as the Guardian Code is transferred to Enzo's icon. When the process is complete, he hands Enzo his icon back.

"Congratulations, son. You're officially one of us now."

Enzo takes the icon reverently. He places it on his chest in the appropriate position and double-clicks.

Guardian Cadet Enzo Matrix throws a smart salute. "Thank you, sir!"

Then he turns and throws his arms around Bob's waist. "Thank you, Bob."

Bob beams and hugs him back. "You're welcome, Enzo."

Turbo walks up and gives Enzo a pat on the back.

"You deserve it, Cadet. You and your friends gave a lot to defend the 'Net. The Guardians need recruits like you, now more than ever."

Enzo looks up at him without releasing Bob. "Thank you, sir." A pause. "You're staying for the party, right?"

"Sure thing, son," he says with a chuckle. "Came all the way out here, after all, and it looks like you got one heck of a party goin' on here."

"Alphanumeric! Hang on..." He finally lets go of Bob to race to a table piled with party favours and back again, and hands Turbo an eyepatch.

Turbo stares a bit at the eyepatch with a confused look, then busts out laughing.

"Heh, okay, okay," he said, taking the eyepatch and putting it on.

"C'mon. I'm thinkin' the rest of your guests wanna say congrats."
