Enzo woke up very early this cycle. This is kind of a problem, as the PARTY! isn't until late morning and the specifics are meant to be a surprise, so he's had to hang around the house while Dot is out making sure everything's set up.

Thus, he's twitching with suppressed energy, but he's still ridiculously happy, 'cause he finally gets to have a real birthday party!

Suddenly, Enzo would hear the rumble of a massive engine as Matrix parks his notoriously oversized motorcycle out in front of Dot's house to pick him up.

Enzo grins and leans out of his bedroom window. "Is it ready?!"

Dot checks over everything for the party one last time.

Parrrrrtyhats? Check.
Pirate-themed syntactic sugar cake? Check.
Bubbly, locked from inquiring small hands? CHECK.
ROM, likewise? CHECK.
Code cola? Check.

Binomes on Brother-watching Detail? Check and double check if you count Princess Bula.

"All is ready, Gavin," Dot smiles from ear to ear. "All we need is our other guest of honor."

"And when do we expect him to arrive, Ms. Matrix?" says the Crimson Binome. He's getting restless. Much as he likes it here in Mainframe, and back home in Fanning, Gavin is eager to be on his own ship again, sailing the open C:s.

AndrAIa was belowdecks, busy making sure everything was in order. Both the presents and food needed attending to and guarding, to ensure Enzo didn't get at either until he was allowed to.

Mostly, though, it was a lot of being bored. Mouse had promised to send someone down to keep her occupied, btu so far no one had shown up.

Well, that's not too surprising; he's not terribly visible. Her auditory acuity, however, might pick up a small, slithery noise approaching the presents.

Launching Ceremony

Capacitor's new ship, the Ada's Revenge, is a sight to behold. She's nearly half again as large as the Saucy Mare, with three masts and twenty-one sails, and her hull is a vivid scarlet trimmed in gold. The Revenge is fully stocked and crewed and ready to set sail, but there's one last detail that needs to be taken care of first...

"As Sponsors of this fine ship and her wonderful captain and crew," Dot says holding up the bottle of Doux Bubble Memory high over her shoulder. "I hereby, in the name of the High C:'s and the Code, christen this ship Ada's Revenge!"

All it takes is one beautiful swing and the bottle of champange is smashed across the bow of the ship.

The Party!

Below decks on the ship, the galley has been turned into a banquet hall for the occasion. On one side of the room is a long table laden with cake and candy and other sugar delivery vehicles. On the other is a substantial pile of wrapped gifts. The space in between has been cleared out so that Enzo will have as few obstacles as possible when he gets on his sugar buzz.

Muahahaha syntactic sugar. Someone went all-out on that cake; it's shaped like a replica of the ship, resting atop a sheet cake with blue icing in peaked waves. (Cyberspace seas do not do that, but iconography is one of those things that seem to leak down from Userspace.)

Enzo stares delightedly at the repast. Chips, shakes, soda, cocoa, a few actual healthy things for variety, and... is that...? Yes! It is! Digitized chocolate! "Alphanumeric!" Wonder how Dot explained that away to the civilians?

Mike comes forward with his own present. It's not too large and slightly mussed in the wrapping but he holds it out to Enzo. "Here ya go, kid. Happy birthday!" The cameras all train on the pile of presents and then the birthday boy.

Matrix walks up and hands Enzo his present. "Enjoy, kid."

It wasn't the largest present ever, but it was fairly long. And, of course, with all good presents, there was only one way of finding out what it was.

"Here," Mouse says, pushing a largish rectangular gift box in front of Enzo. The wrapping is purple, with a stylized mouse print pattern in gold. "An' fer the record, I made sure it ain't somethin' Dot would have objections to." With Mouse, that possibility is a real concern.

There's four boxes on the table with tags from Dot, all wrapped in neat shiny metal foil and be-ribboned. One's wide and flat and the other three are long and narrow... what could be inside?

A certain aqua-haired game sprite comes into view; she's carrying a largish square box adorned with wrapping paper featuring an aquatic theme. She approaches the younger sprite with a smile and presents the parcel to him. “Happy Birthday Enzo.”

One more thing...

One sprite's name has been conspicuously absent from the tags on Enzo's gifts.

Said sprite has been hanging back, watching Enzo unwrap packages with an odd sort of smile on his face.

He's got a Plan.

What a haul! But something does seem to be missing. That seems to be the last of the presents... but still nothing from Bob. Enzo's brow furrows as he rummages among, boxes, gifts and discarded wrapping.

"You all heard it here first folks! Mainframe Live is proud to bring you the breaking news of Enzo Matrix's upgrade to Guardian Cadet!" The camera starts to wander across to Enzo and then Mike gets back in front of the camera. He then moves to Enzo to get a better look.

Dot stands off to the side and after Mike is done interviewing her little brother she goes over and hugs him. "I'm Very proud of you, Enzo."

Matrix was there to congratulate Enzo too. He'd been told about the plan a little last minute, but he agreed it was a good idea.

After all, he'd probably still be in Daemon's control right now if it wasn't for him.

Or...well, not. Exploding virus, and all that jazz. But still.
