User visit: Guppy Sandhu

Enzo ushers Guppy into an upstairs room containing a massive bank of hardware, including lasers, monitors, and Big Red Buttons.

"Here it is. The digitizer." Beat. "And matterizer. And some other things. Maybe it needs a better name."

Well, he's got a little time to kill, if he wants to!

"Just wait for your cue, come out and say hi, answer people's questions, and try to stay cool."

Something about Enzo's smile suggests that this last point may be crucial.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Cool?" Guppy asks.

Little tricky to be cool when you're not naturally cool, and a snooker ball with legs who keeps falling over. But he doesn't say that, in case it offends the other sprites present.

"I'll try my best."

[a1enzo]

Enzo's expression gentles. "Don't worry, we've got your back-end. You get uncomfortable, signal me and we'll shut down. Just try to stick it out as long as you can. Remember, everyone's gonna be real excited, and we're... sort of encouraging that. Trying to wear them out, basically. That's why the stage and... everything."

[guppy_sandhu]

"They wouldn't, er, bear grudges or anything would they?" Guppy asks, suddenly. "Because of the games and stuff."

[a1enzo]

"I explained to them about all that, and I told them you're not from a world with sprites anyway. Worst some of them might be is a little grumpy."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Okay." Guppy says, nodding. Or at least rotating somehow.

He looks for something to sit on without rolling on his back like a displaced turtle, and goes for leaning on a wall.

[a1enzo]

"It'll be awesome," Joseph assures him. Amy nods agreement and says, "I'm gonna go tune up, okay?"

"Sure," Enzo says. "I'll be right with you."

Guppy waits patiently, taking a look around the room.

He's often imagined Enzo's world, but he's still not prepared for the... smoothness, the lack of various sensations that he's used to.
