AndrAIa's winking earlier only made him turn more purple, but he ignored it. And hoped desperately part of Matrix letting the Boob-staring go was not speaking of it ever again, so Sam never heard about it.

"Yes, we're Users. But I already had my friend Tucker look into it, and as far as we know our world's computers, at least, don't have...tiny, tiny people inside. I've been inside a game, too. Last time I was here I didn't need to get converted to sprite form before coming in--one of the perks of being a half-ghost. It was just this time I knew I'd be here longer while Dani recuperated, so I went for the conversion so I didn't get too tired and go human in sprite-space."

He was rambling a little, but he was still slightly flustered.

Ignoring the wink, is he? We'll just have to see about that.

AndrAIa smiles softly at Danny. "That's very sweet of you to stay with Dani."

"Well, she's my clone. She's like...my little sister or something, by technicality, right? But she's cool enough that if I chose a little sister, I'd pick someone like her anyway."

A hand went out to mess up her hair, but it was difficult, what with it being so polygonal. Still, it was fun trying.

He grinned. "Even if sometimes you're a stubborn pain in the butt, isn't that right Dani. Of course, you probably got that from me."

And she smirks right back at him.

"No probably; I know I got it from you," Dani replies cheekily.

"Yeah, the stubborn gene must've been pretty solidly on the X chromosome. Which means you have two copies of it, instead of my one. So you're twice the stubborn."

Haha! He had a master grasp on genetics!

Well, not really, but at least he remembered what chromosomes went to what gender.

She watches the two near-siblings banter with a smile. If Matrix dealt with his copy that well, she'd have a good few less headaches.

She seats herself on the floor, the more easily to converse. "You said you've been in a Game? What kind was it?"

"Doomed. First version? Don't know if you guys have that one here. Technus--that's my really dumb enemy that declares all his plans--was trying to beat the game and then take over the internet--or something."

Enzo hasn't heard this one before. He screws up his face in perplexity. "How does winning a Game help you take over the 'Net?"

Danny shrugged and made a noise that sounded vaguely like "I'unno."

"Probably just some weird User thing," Matrix says.

Matrix is something of a self-taught expert on Games, so if he doesn't know, then chances are it's gotta be something going on at the User's end.

AndrAIa's brow furrows as she goes through her mental list of Games.

"Matrix and I haven't come across this 'Doomed' Game. What kind of game is it?"

"Massive Online Multiplayer. But it has a single-player mode where you have to run around shooting things, beating monsters, even some platform levels..."

From:

"Massive online multiplayer?" he said. "Haven't heard of that before. Pretty much all of the Games we've been in have only had one User."

From:

"Give it a few years." Although, where would a game touch down on that one? Mainframe or in the server where it was hosted?

AndrAIA shakes her head.

"Oh no, we've heard of networked Games from Bob's stories about the Supercomputer, it's just Mainframe hasn't gotten them."

She gestures at Matrix while continuing.

"Matrix and I were never able to come across them while Game-hopping because we were always in offline systems."

The cube would land on every system involved, this mun thinks.

"Is that how this Technus guy was gonna use the Game to take over the 'Net? 'Cause it was networked?"

Not that this really explains how from the sprite end, but at least it makes more sense.

A shrug. "Possibly? I tend to worry less about why the bad guys are doing something crazy and more about how to stop them. Sometimes the 'why' doesn't make any sense at all."

"Either way, now you've saved the net for both Users and sprites."

She gives him another, special sort of grin.

"Very heroic."

Matrix is well aware of his lover's antics, which is why, while the glare he's giving Danny certainly looks serious enough, it's actually all in good fun.

Just consider these two the "good cop, bad cop" of messing with people.

C'mon, you guuuys, stop it.

"Well my very pretty and occasionally violent girlfriend thinks so."

Which is why he's not taking ANY joy in the babe thinking he was heroic. Nope. Lalala.

Blushing and not looking.

Hmm...not quite blushing blue yet, maybe this'll get him. AndrAIa leeeeans over and places a hand daintily on Danny's shoulder. "Well, your girlfriend has very good taste."

Matrix just grits his teeth, giving his glare an extra edge by making his eye glow faintly red.

Oh, he is good at this. Lots and lots of practice.

"...Um, can you please stop touching me? I think Matrix is trying to make my head explode by sheer force of his hate."

AndrAIa lets her hand linger on Danny's shoulder for a few moments while she stares at him. If one is watching closely, one might be able to see the corners of her mouth twitch. Finally she removes the hand and slumps forward, elbows on her knees, and begins giggling quite helplessly.
